Organizations are relying more on projects—and their successful management and delivery—to meet their strategic goals. Once considered an “accidental profession,” project management is applicable to a wide range of industries including government contracting, information technology, healthcare, law, nonprofit development, and public relations. Both private and public-sector firms are requiring certified project managers to tackle increasingly complex projects and support more demanding customers while striving for greater efficiency and transparency.
The Certificate in Project Management is designed for professionals that are looking to enter a new career field or acquire new skills. Students gain a deep understanding of the core concepts, practices, and know-how required to become a more effective and valued project manager.
The program is based on a curriculum grounded in theory and real-world applications—and with the understanding that it takes knowledge of processes and people to deliver project objectives and requirements. Our program is built on the core processes defined in the Project Management Institute’s “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK).” There is also a strong emphasis on helping students develop the skills and practices necessary to manage real-world challenges and deliver projects on time, on budget, and within scope while meeting stakeholder expectations and customer needs.

Explain the role of the project manager in meeting organizational strategic goals
Apply iterative, incremental agile practices throughout the project life cycle
Determine the best way to execute projects to deliver business value
Plan and manage budget and resources
Plan and manage project schedules, scope, and changes
Identify and manage the risks and challenges in delivering successful projects
Identify the role of the project manager and the skills required to lead teams successfully
Support team performance and empower team members through the development of leadership skills
Manage communications, engage and build shared understanding with stakeholders
Students who complete the certificate program will satisfy the education requirements needed to sit for the Project Management Professional (PMP) ® Exam or the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) ® Exam.
